10 Different Types of Apples

Pink Lady

This sweet-tart apple has high sugars and high acids with a crisp bite and effervescent finish. It tends to fall more towards the tart side than sweet but is oh so refreshing! It has a beautiful, bright white flesh that is slow to oxidize (in other words, slow to brown) making it a wonderful apple to entertain with. This apple is also one of the main varieties used for pre-packaged apple slices. The Pink Lady® apple is extremely versatile and can be used for baking, snacking, salads, pairing, or for sauce.

Fuji

Fuji apples have golden flesh and a faint pinkish red skin. The name of this variety comes from a research facility in Fujisaki, Aomori, Japan, where it was created. These frequently huge apples can stay in good condition for up to a year. They're ideal for preparing salads or sauces. Fuji apples are excellent for baking as well.

Red Delicious

Red delicious apples are known for their bright red skin. These apples are sweet and juicy, with minimal tartness. They are best eaten raw or in salads. Their high-sugar level and soft flesh are not ideal for baking

Royal Gala

Gala apples are in season from mid-August to September. Their flavor is mildly sweet and juicy. These dark pink apples are perfect for slicing and including in salads.

Granny Smith

Granny Smiths are bright green apples with a firm flesh and a tart flavor. Their lemon-like acidity may make them too tart to eat whole, but these apples will hold their structure well in baked goods and will benefit from the added sugar.

Golden Delicious

Golden Delicious apples are a small to medium-sized varietal, averaging 5 to 8 centimeters in diameter, and have a round to conical appearance with flat, broad shoulders tapering to a wide base. The apples are slightly ribbed and have smooth, thin, and taut flesh, showcasing textured brown russet within the stem cavity. The skin has a golden-yellow to bright yellow hue, often tinged with green or covered in patches of pale pink-red blush.

Jazz

Always crunchy, always sweet and always juicy. A natural fusion of the Royal Gala and Braeburn varieties. The shape and sweetness of a Royal Gala combined with the fresh, tangy flavour of a Braeburn, creating a tasty sensation. These robust apples are known to store well and enjoy a longer shelf-life, providing a crunchy and consistent eating experience for longer.

Kanzi

The Kanzi apple is a variety of Malus domestica. It is a cross between a Gala and a Braeburn apple, two varieties from New Zealand, and is related to the Jazz apple, which shares the same parents. The name Kanzi means “happy treasure” in Swahili, a name picked for marketing purposes.

Rockit

Rockit Apples are a type of miniature apple specifically and uniquely created to be a snack-size apple. Rockit Apples are a bit smaller than a golf ball and are known to be very sweet, making them the most convenient snack-size apple at all times of the day. Another important aspect of Rockit Apples is that they are already washed and packaged to be eaten on the go!

Ambrosia

This intensely sweet, juicy and aromatic apple is known for its large size, crisp texture, perfumed aroma and honeyed flavour. Keep Ambrosia chilled in the fridge for a cool, refreshing snack.
